Title: Coffee Break
Julie continued to stare into the cupboard, her mouth forming a perfect 'o' of surprise. Susan came to stand next to her, looking at the shelves, but not seeing anything to provide such intense scrutiny from her friend.
" Anyone home ?" Asked Susan, waving a hand in front of her friends face.
" I saw a tiny woman in your cupboard,"
" You saw what ?"
" She ran behind your cups, she was so small !!" Julie exclaimed in wonder.
" You're dreaming, what would they be doing in my cupboard," Susan scoffed, turning to fill two mugs with boiling water.
" Why don't you ask her yourself ?" Said Julie, pointing to the nearest tea cup with a slightly shaking finger. Susan looked up, a wide smile on her face, expecting to find it all a huge joke. As her eyes came level with the shelf her jaw dropped as a tiny woman darted between the cups.
" I-I- !!" Susan started. Julie only smiled smugly and crossed her arms over her chest, regarding her surprised friend with amusement. Susan shut her mouth with an audible snap. Giving her friend a look, she started to remove the cups and glasses closest to the edge of the cupboard, working her way around where the Little Person was obviously hiding.

Betty hunkered down, trying to make herself as small as possible. She had been about to escape out the hole at the back of the cupboard with the others when the door had suddenly opened, exposing her to the astonished gaze of the Giant woman. Now another woman had joined the first and Betty's eyes darted back and forth, trying to find a safe haven. When the cups and glasses started to go from the cupboard she realised her potential camouflage was rapidly disappearing, along with her chances to escape. Screwing up her courage, Betty slowly stood up, revealing herself to the two women.
" Oh my god, she's so tiny, and so like us," breathed Susan,
" I always thought they would look like icky aliens or something, but they look just like you and me, only on a tiny scale...wow," Julie stated, picking up the last cup to clear a space around where Betty stood, nervously.
" What are you going to do with me ?" Betty asked, twisting her hands together.
Both women exchanged a quick glance.
" Do with you ? I-I don't know, Julie ?" said Susan,
" I suppose we should report her to the SID...but I don't know, it seems kinda cruel, its not like they can hurt us, look how small she is,"
" What were you doing in my kitchen ?" asked Susan, finding the whole situation hugely entertaining.
" We needed to re-supply our supply of metals, Mark needed some silver for an engine part, and I remember you had a silver eggcup in the back of the cupboard," Betty explained.
" You've been here before ?" said Susan, surprised.
" Well....um...yes," said Betty, looking embarrassed.
" But I've never seen any evidence of Little People before,"
" Well we don't exactly advertise ourselves, most people only want to send us to the SID for the reward, not many want to help us, so we make sure no-one knows we've been,"
" Wow, it must be tough being your size," said Julie, her expression sympathetic. Taking this as a good sign, Betty decided she could push her luck.
" So, I can leave now, my friends will be worried about me,"
Susan and Julie exchanged another look, a silent decision suggested and agreed upon in a second.
" Did you find the eggcup you were looking for ?"
" Yes we did, do you want it back ?" Betty asked apprehensively.
" Naaaagh," said Susan, waving her hand dismissively. " I hated the ugly thing, never used it, you're more than welcome."
" Oh thank you, so....I'd...um...I'd better go,"
" Take care out there, if you ever want to come back, you would be very welcome," said Julie, a smile curving her lips.
" Hey, maybe next time you'd like to introduce your friends and stay for a coffee or something," offered Susan.
Betty bit her lip to keep a laugh from breaking out. Susan and Julie both realised at the same time how absurd the offer was, afterall, Betty could practically swim in one of Susan's coffee mugs. The three women all laughed, Betty clutching her middle and Julie wiping the tears of mirth from her eyes. A minute or two later, they all got themselves under control again.
" Well, you know what I mean," said Susan, sheepishly.
" I do, and thank you for the offer," said Betty, smiling broadly.
The two women watched as Betty turned and walked back to the rear of the cupboard, where a large crack, previously un-noticed by either Giantess, allowed Betty to squeeze her way out of sight.
" Oh damn, my coffee's gone cold," said Susan, looking down ruefully at her mug.
" I'll turn the jug on again," offered Julia, " got any biscuits ?"
The End.
